His career developed rapidly, culminating with his appointment as the first Carriage Superintendent of Britain's premier railway company. He later established himself as a leading citizen of Wolverton, a bustling railway town in Buckinghamshire. Bore's reputation was sealed when he designed what was to become Queen Victoria's favourite railway vehicle, described as a 'palace on wheels', and subsequently travelled with her on her annual journeys to and from Balmoral.
